TalkingPEN family of pens cover MagicPEN, PENfriend and the RecorderPEN. These pens allow children to interact with talking books and 

helps a teacher to easily monitor many children’s reading skills. It also allows children to compare their own reading to the pre-recorded English in the book itself. The fascinating stories and the MagicPEN makes learning fun so children are inspired to spend a lot of time reading. The books are traditional Vedic tales, stories from scripture, or of children who follow traditional culture with respect for cows and the environment. Reading thus gives children pride and confidence in their culture.
  The PENs all run on 2XAAA batteries and have ports for audio (earphones/external speakers), usb (for linking onto the Internet) and a microphone port (in case you wish to use a more powerful microphone than the one which is built into the pen). PENfriend is used by UK's RNIB (Royal National Institute of the Blind) as a labelling device. RecorderPEN is a different design and is used by schools in UK, USA in education. MagicPEN has been designed for the Learn to Read Series.

It has enough memory to record up to 70 hours of your own recordings which may be your voice, other people's voices, music, noises, etc. The box will have an instruction sheet (in 25 languages) showing you how to make recordings. The process is very easy and is exactly the same as that used by blind people - in fact MagicPEN is a derivative of PENfriend.

An important feature of your recordings is the filing system. If you, for instance, make your own recordings in the book titled "Did Krishna Do It?" all the recordings are stored in a folder called "Did Krishna Do It". So, if you wished to send your voice recordings to a relative or friend who also has the book and MagicPEN, you can do so by email and the USB cable. The recipient  would need to install your recordings into his/her pen to listen to your voice. This is an effective way for co-operative work and sharing one's own creations.

MagicPEN will also work with a growing range of other Mantra Lingua publications. There are over 40 childrens'  books, including the "My Bilingual Dictionary" and "Dipak's Diwali" which are shown in this website. There are over 1500 unique sticky labels for recording (onto photographs, posters, artwork, etc) and many special offers.
